Magnetized Activated Carbon Synthesized from Pomegranate Husk for Persulfate Activation and Degradation of 4-Chlorophenol from Wastewater

The compound 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) is known to be a highly toxic having harmful effects on human health and the environment. To date, removal of 4-CP by advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) has attracted tremendous attentions. persulfate-based AOPs show higher oxidation, better selectivity, wider pH range, no secondary pollution compared traditional Fenton-based AOPs. Carbon materials with low cost chemical stability are useful for activation persulfate (PS) produce reactive species. Herein, we magnetized activated carbon synthesized from pomegranate husk (MPHAC). By using as model organic pollutant, tests PS via MPHAC were performed. Batch carried out study influence different parameters (initial solution pH, catalyst dose, initial concentration) adsorption PHAC ferric oxide (Fe3O4-PHAC). results that under obtained optimal conditions (MPHAC dose: 1250 mg/L, 350 5, an concentration 100 contact time 60 min), factor 99.5% was reached developed MPHAC/PS system. In addition, it found reusing in five successive cycles feasible because last cycle kept exhibiting high potential absorption, indicating economically viable procedure.
